Stanley Galli

Galli was born in San Francisco, CA in 1912. His youth was divided between California and a ranch in Nevada. At age 12 he received a two-year scholarship at the CSFA and later studied in Los Angeles at the Art Center School. His illustrations have appeared in Country Gentlemen, Sports Afield, McCalls, True, Reader's Digest, and Saturday Evening Post, and he has designed 26 postage stamps for the USPO. Since 1970 he spent several months of each year in Italy where he maintained a studio in an ancient farm house in Tuscany. His prints and paintings were executed in a style of carefully designed realism with subjects varying from wild life studies to scenes of early California during the Mexican rule. His works have won many awards and medals during his long career.
